Using a stencil/mask to make an embellishment...

Happy Sunday!
I'm a little late posting because I got embroiled in designing some new stamps which are too cute but that's a whole other secret story! ; )

Today over at the Pan Pastel challenge blog we are making embellies using Stencils. The Pan Pastel team are sooo creative! Luckily for me I made this last week which I really loved and adorned with some of my special stash which is years old and been hiding in my precious drawer.
This is a plain old MDF heart which I got cheap as chips ages ago. I used a flower mask from our new range of Dutch Doobadoo products - if you haven't seen these yet you MUST!! It's ages since I was so excited about a range of products, they're perfect for CAS makes but you can also mess them up for projects like this too and there aren't many product ranges which are that verrsatile!
I stencilled through the mask with Versamark ink and then applied Pan Pastels (I think it was Yellow Ochre and Perm Red Shade). I then applied the dots stencil and pushed some Light Modeling paste through it (you can get all these product links at the bottom of this post by the way!). Used a snip of denim and then made the little hearts and wings embellie and again stencilled using the dot mask. Finally I added all the other bits and pieces of embellies and then added a flower doily and concertina'd an old book page....don't have a heart attack! I adore using book pages but I am really fussy about which books I will use. This was an old paperback that was total rubbish so I had no issue with tearing it up but PLLLLEASE be careful if you alter books - remember they are pieces of history sometimes and there are many which should not be touched! In my opinion, anyway!

If you're loving all the Doobadoo products I've used here then PLEASE watch out because I have some exciting news coming! In the meantime you can shop for all the products I used below....

Colouring Denim

Hello, me again, twice in a week, woohooo!

This week over on the Graph'It challenge we are colouring Denims so please make sure you go and check out the fantastic inspiration from the team, it's superb!

I've been away at the NEC this week attending the UK's only trade show and demoing for Premium Craft Brands so I've had rather a busy week but I managed to join in this challenge last minute. There was SOOO much interest in Graph'It at the show, it's just fantastic to see that in just a short year we've managed to really get this fantastic range of products on the map and that all the industry professionals can see how great they are and are now starting to stock them in your local craft shops....if yours hasn't got them yet then tell them they should!

Over at Polkadoodles this week we have SO much going on including lots of new stash...too much to mention all in one post so I'm going to be giving you some sneaky peeks over the next week or so which will make you jump up and down! So watch out, we're talking serious stash overload here!

So anyway, I find that lots of people struggle with choosing the right colours for denim for some reason but if you forget about using blues and go grey instead you're onto a winner in the Graph'It range!....
I used my Dollie Daydream digistamp and I'm a bit obsessed with colouring water at the moment as you might have guessed. Actually, if I'm honest this was the first and just about the only image that I had to hand last minute LOL!....
I absolutely adore Graph'It Cool Greys for colouring Denims and that's what I've used here with a very limited colour palette of only Greys (other than skintones).
The Graph'It colours I used are:
Skin: 4115, 4155, 4170, 4175, 4145
Jeans: Cool Greys 9101, 9102, 9103, 9105, 9106, 9905, 9909
Umbrella and background: Neutral Greys 9501, 9502, 9102

If you love colouring but are a little scared to go with a new marker like Graph'it this might be a good way to give them a whirl. Although I used 7 pens here to do my jeans you get a mega result just with 3 to be honest, I was just being a bit GI anal LOL!

The card itself uses papers from my Picknix 1 range and a ton of new products I haven't even begun to tell you about yet but I know you're going to need cos I've fallen in love with them this week.

Right, I will be back soon with some exciting news, but in the meantime make sure you go and check out the challenge and also pop on over to the Polkadoodles blog too because we have another fab challenge there today with some more great stash up for grabs....

See ya soon my lovelies! :D

Week 7 Graph'It challenge Whimsy - Love Florals!

Hey everyone!
I'm super excited because it's been a busy old week here at Doodle Towers!

Today over on the Graph'It blog we have challenged the Whimsy Stamps team and there is a great challenge going on so please please nip over to the blog to read all about it and win some amazing stash!
Go HERE now!

You can read about how I created this project over on the Graph'It blog together with the colours I used - isn't this image adorable? If you're a cat lover you need this for sure!
I am so bad at remembering to write down colours as I go along because I just seem to get in the zone of colouring and everything else vanishes in front of my eyes and brain but I had a stab at remembering and guessing. Gorge image from Whimsy, has to be one of my all time faves this one....

When I colour I try to put a little twist on the image if I can somewhere and it can make such a huge can tell I'm really loving doing water at the minute, right? So I had to make sure his little furry tail was dragging in the water. My cat the Scooter ninja barely knows his tail is there so this would be him - he hates water but wouldn't feel it dipping in LOL! I often find him sat on the kitchen sink with his tail sat in the washing up bowl bubbles haha! Naughty puss!

So I'll be back really soon with some lovely pics for you - I am having a wonderful creative week making lots and lots of fab samples. Our UK trade fair for the craft industry takes place this weekend and I'm demonstrating to all the retailers across Europe on the Premium Craft stand and have had the joy of making 'stuff' all week! I can't show you yet but I WILL be back mid week!
Don't forget to go and join in the challenge this week - AMAZING prizes up for grabs and some wonderful inspiration from the Whimsy and Graph'It teams along the way - my guys have done me proud this week!

If you leave me a comment below this post I will pick a random winner to get £50 of stash which will include Whimsy stamps, marker pens and allsorts of lovely stuff so make sure you leave me a comment!! Now hop back to the blog and leave some comments on the rest of the team's makes to win even more stuff!!

p.s. don't forget it's challenge day over at Polkadoodles today too - great candy on offer!!

Sorry Face...

Hey everyone if there's still anyone out there that reads this blog LOL!
I knoooow I've been a really bad girl and not updated you for ages and ages.

I have no excuse other than time.

I'm rubbish, what can I say.

Anyway, I just thought I'd better update you and there are so many things to say I'm going to do them in a bullet list!

1. I'm sorry!
2. We have TWO great new collections which were both launched in January...
....Girl Talk is unashamedly pink and all things girly and shopping related and lovely. (click the images to view).

....Goes East is everything Oriental and you will adore this even if you HATE oriental normally! I've always steered clear of this theme because I personally don't like the whole dark red/black/gold thing that seems to be the norm but this is SO NOT that! Adorable!

3. All our new collections will now be available on CD and also as downloads : ) yipppeee! So you no longer have to wait for the CD to arrive!  Also, if you're not into CD's but love my designs you will now be able to buy the character stamps as separate digis (although value for money wise this is NOT the way to go!)

4. Digital Stamps - we are going to be releasing lots more digis this year and now have an Etsy download store as well as the Polkadoodles store. Dollie Daydream is our new character range and you are all loving her!

5. There's another Graph'It show on Create and Craft on 7th February - hope you can tune in!
Here's a card I made on the last show...
Coloured with Graph'Its of course and the image is from the Girl Talk Collection.

6. I am now doing some Google Hangouts as and when I can manage the time in my not so quiet schedule so make sure you watch out for those - lots of crafting! They are live but  if you don't manage to catch them they actually save onto You Tube too so you can watch them later on.

7. I am now uploading to my YouTube channel more regularly so make sure you subscribe here, little snippets of info, collection previews and tutorials to come : )

7. I PROMISE to try and do better in future!!

Ok, I said it was a quick update, so that's it for now.
